More or less Space Exploration?
Do you ever wonder how we can communicate so well these days? How we can just touch our
phones and call someone on the other side of the country or even the world. How we can call our
grandparents when they are on vacation in a different country. Another example is how it is possible
that we have an app on our phone that just says where our destination is and which way we should
head for. This is all because of our discoveries and information we gained from our space missions or
exploration. To continue this innovation we should invest more in space exploration

Firstly, we should invest more in space exploration because it stimulates our knowledge. Not only in
the universe and maybe life somewhere else than on earth, but it also results in new technologies. It
creates innovation and motivation too. For example think of an idea to be able to live on the moon or
somewhere else. It also generates jobs, so less people are unemployed and it can be studied so it
creates an extra option for students.

Secondly, space exploration can be usefull for earth observation also known as remote sensing. This
system can gather information on the earth. This can be very usefull when a natural phenomena
takes place, like a vulcano eruption. But also with natural disasters, because the remote sensing can
navigate the emergency services and map the extend of the disaster easily. Another thing the remote
sensing can do is help us understand the envrironmetal problems on earth better. It brings an unique
point of view on our ecosystems.

Every spacemission costs a substantial amount of money. This money has to come from the people
who pay taxes. For many of those people the question is if this is the right way to spend this kind of
money, because there are enough problems on earth that need attention and money. But space
exploration and spacemissions don’t just cost money, they actually surve a purpose. As mentioned
before, they are good for new technologies and innovation. Plus the fact that spacemissions generate
money, usually more then they cost says NASA. So it is not a waste of money.

Summarizing the arguments mentioned, space exploration stimulates our knowledge and therefore it
creates innovation. In addition the space exploration generates jobs and an option as a programme
for students. The space exploration is also used for remote sensing. This can help navigate
emergency services with natural disasters and also map the extend of it. You can say that the space
exploration costs a lot of money and it is a waste but the spacemissions usually generate money,
more than needed so it is not a waste. In conclusion, we should invest more in space exploration.
