Bekijk allereerst de lichaamsbouw van de patiënt:
- Pycnisch (endomorf): kort, gedrongen en sterk gebouw en naar gewichtstoename
geniegd
- Atletisch (ectomorf): duidelijk zichtbare gespierdheid
- Leptosoom (mesomorf): is van nature slank en neigt naar mager vanwege smalle
botten en gewrichten
Voer systematisch een totale inspectie van je proefpersoon uit
Dorsaal ik begin aan de achterzijde, zodat de patiënt kan wennen
- Stand van het hoofd
- Stand van de schouders
- Stand van de schouderbladen
- Stand van de ruggengraat (scoliosis)
- Luchtfiguren van de armen
- Stand van de heupen (SIPS)
- Eventueel bilplooien
- Knieplooien
- Luchtfiguren benen (o benen of x benen)
- Bovenbenen, onderbenen (even groot, contouren)
- Stand van de enkels en voeten (gedraaid)

- Kijken of er sprake is van antepositie van het hoofd (of het hoofd meer naar voren
hangt). protractie of retractie
- Schouders in protractie (schouders naar voren) of retractie (schouders naar achter)
- Lijn van apple ton (rechte lijn van oren tot laterale malleolus)
- Wervelkolom (holle rug of afgevlakt?) lordose of kyfose
- Bekken (gekanteld?)
- Stand knieën (overstrekt?)
- Holvoet of platvoet
- Gewicht op de voorvoet of hak
- Klauwvoeten
