In summary, “The Most Dangerous Game” is the story of Rainsford, a renowned hunter who
sails to South America to hunt jaguars with his partner Whitney. However, one night when he
was going to sleep, he hears gunshots in the distance and decides to get closer to the edge of
his boat to better see where these shots can come from. Thus, he lost his balance and fell into
the water with no one to help him. He then decides to swim to the island where he heard the
shots, then begins to see footsteps and decides to follow them to finally end up in front of a
large property. He is welcomed by the owner of the place, General Zaroff, an equally
knowledgeable hunting enthusiast of Rainsford's reputation who generously offers him refuge
and shares his hunting experiences over a meal to finally know the turning point of this story.
Zaroff, having lost interest in traditional hunting for a long time, has decided to start hunting
humans, which he considers more thrilling. Bewildered by this, Rainsford orders Zaroff to help
him leave this island, but his right is denied and is therefore forced to participate and emerge
victorious in Zaroff's game being to survive three days on the island without being killed by him
having only the right to a knife to defend against a pack of bloodthirsty dogs and Zaroff's
hunting instinct. He accepts the challenge and sees himself left alone in an adventure he could
not have imagined. Thus, after many hours of desperately fleeing his opponent, invaded by
deep fear and vainly trying to escape his destiny, he is immediately found by Zaroff who
implicitly gives him a second chance. Thus, Rainsford comes finally to his senses and stops
acting scared as prey would, and begins to strategize. He prepares his hunting traps and
manages to get closer to freedom after multiplying his attempts. He manages to wound Zaroff
and kill his bodyguard. Having taken over the situation, he goes to the castle where he sees
Zaroff who announces to him his victory, but he tells him that he will not be finished until Zaroff
draws his last breath.
Topic 2 – Analyzing the characters (Rainsford vs Zaroff) 1 ½ minutes/student 10

*To deeply understand the different features of a character, we need to make this work to have
a better understanding of their behavior and I think that was part of the homework I guess
