Metaphysical Poetry
The main features of metaphysical poetry are exaggerated imagery, telescopic imagery, use of metaphysical
conceits, use of paradoxes and puns as well as a wide range of diversity in topics. The most metaphysical poems
were written during the 17th century. Metaphysical poets included John Donne, George Herbert, Richard Crashaw,
Andrew Marvell and Henry Vaughan.
My analysis:
Three stanzas
Split lines
Irregular meter
Lover compared to the sun
Exaggerated
