Rules Restaurant is the London’s oldest restaurant, opened in 1798 and one of
the most famous in the world. It offers traditional British food to the highest
quality standard.
For Rules, the customer service is very important. It must maintain its high standards in
order to maintain its world fame. Restaurants are businesses where the first impression and
the relationship they create with customers matter. The main purpose of the restaurant is to
please all customers, not only to offer tasty food, but to create a special atmosphere, which
people will remember with pleasure and they will want to come back or recommend it to
acquaintances, giving very good reviews.

The first step in offering exceptional services is the restaurant staff. Employees ready to
welcome customers properly will make them return to the restaurant again. The waiters are
the most talented people in the field of hospitality. They are friendly, honest, reliable and able
to work very well in a team, also they are available to each client and juggle multiple tasks.
The waiters have good speaking skills, because they communicate face to face with the
customers. Other job roles that may need to deliver customer service are: bartenders, chefs,
the restaurant manager of the restaurant etc. They have some knowledge of the field in
which they work, graduating specific courses/training. Also, paying personal attention to the
restaurant owner or general manager will make customers feel special.

The approach of the Rules Restaurant is largely similar to that of the Savoy’s restaurants.
Both offer quality services, the difference being that Savoy has a wide range of luxury dishes
while Rules emphasizes the traditional food.
