- ONS (2013):
- Men + children = more likely to work - opposite to women
- Men - tend - professional occupations with higher pay than women
- Women - dominate caring & leisure occupations
- Female graduates - likely - work in lower skilled occupation group than men
- Men - make up - majority of workers in top 10% earners of all employees - the gap is lower for
those under 30
- Private business sector of employment - gender pay gap = 24.8%
- Public business sector = 17.1%
- Self-employed women - earn 40% less that self-employed men
- Women - 20.4% of directors of FTSE 100 boards & 11.1% Uk bank CEOS - Fawcett Society 2013
- Will take 70 years to see an equal number of female and male directors of FTSE 100
companies - Equality and Human Right Commission 2011)
