2. After reading a few paragraphs, list any questions
you have or expect to be elaborated upon, and
number them in importance to you.
3. After you have read the entire text, list what you
have learned.
4. Compare your second and third lists to see what you
still need to know, and what you learned that you
didn’t expect

entertain?
Who is the intended audience? Are you a member of that
audience? If not, are there terms or concepts you might
need to look up?
What is the genre? Report, analysis, something else?
What do you know about the author?
What is the author’s stance? Critical, objective,
something else?
1. Skim the heading, abstract/ introduction, and the
conclusion for something that related to what you
already have.
2. Read though the text just to understand what it is
saying.
