ENGINEERING 13321The Unit 20 Assignment 2
Unit 20: Analogu e Electron ic circuits Negative Feedback Negative feedback on an amplifier has a "dampening" effect: if the output signal increases in magnitude, the feedback signal introduces a decreasing impact on the amplifier's input, thereby opposing the change in the output signal. Positive feedback pushes an amplifier circuit toward instability (oscillations), whereas negative feedback pushes it in the other direction: toward stability. Negative feedback amplifier circuits are more stable, but they distort the input waveform less and can often magnify a wider range of frequencies. However, these benefits come at the cost of a lower gain.
