Bitewing:
Main indications:
• Detection of dental caries
• Monitoring the progression of dental caries
• Assessment of existing restorations
• Assessment of bone loss
, Patient Preparation:
• Seated upright.
• Glasses, partial dentures, ortho appliances removed.
• Adjust headrest so patient’s head is stable and comfortable.
• Raise or lower the chair to a comfortable height for yourself.
• Inform the patient about the number of films you will be taking.
Head Position:
• Maxillary arch should be parallel to the floor.
• Mid-sagittal plane should be perpendicular to the floor.
• Head should be stable but comfortable.
