6-2 Project One: Network Modification Brief

CYB-210 Summary
The after-mentioned brief details the steps taken to update the existing network configuration of the DMV network. This project was completed with four concise goals as a guiding force.
Create an open wireless access point for guest internet usage while waiting.
Configure security video cameras that will monitor the front door and lobby area.
Ensure the network is configured to meet the requirements of new hardware and allow for
future growth
Segment network properly to enforce security controls and route network traffic accordingly.
Support documentation and an updated diagram of the modifications to the network topology have been included.
Guest Network
For the engine of the wireless network, a Linksys WRT300N was chosen from the equipment closet onsite. Enforcing segmentation, the existing switch was configured first to add a new VLAN for the router to run the guest network. While the VLAN could have been added under the switch’s configuration window, the exec commands for VLAN configuration under the
CLI will have the same effect. VLAN 70 was created with the “Guest” name.
