Human nature:

Agree –

Anarchists all have a positive view of human nature meaning that humans have universal
qualities with potential of harmony

Anarchists also consider humans contain the potential for selfishness and corruption

All anarchists blame the state and society for humans developing selfish and anti social traits
and argue humans acquired these traits from being moulded by their environment

State reinforces negative human qualities such as selfishness and corruption


Disagree –

Collectivists argue humans are altruistic and co-operative

Collectivist thinker Bakunin says “humans by their very nature, social beings”

Collectivist thinker Kropotkin states “in nature members of the same species show
sociability”

Individualists see humans as self interested and competitive

Individualist thinker Stirner believed humans fundamental core will drive an individual to do
or take anything they want and that “the individual should not be limited or controlled”


Individualists believe Humans are built for survival and protection of their own individual
