, 1. Introduction
An organisation operates with different levels of management that can include the top
management, middle management, low or first line management. Each level of management has
different roles with the top-level management deals with strategic plans of the organisations and
are responsible for long term strategic planning for the entire organisation. The paper discussed
the three levels of management as well as evaluating the vision statement of TFG group to
determine whether it meets the requirements of a good vision statement and provide some
recommendations on how it can be improved. The paper also discussed the remote environment of
the organisation using the PESTEL(G) model and finally deduced the opportunities and threats
that emanates from the remote environment for TFG Group.
2.1 Different levels of management in an organisation
There are various levels of management that can be found in an organisation. The levels of
management that can be found in different levels of an organisation include the top management,
middle management, low or first line management. The top-level management makes the strategic
plans of the organisations and are responsible for long term strategic planning for the entire
organisation. The top-level management control the organisation as a whole and are responsible
for leadership and control of the implementing strategies. They set the direction of the business
organisation by formulating a vision and mission, goals and objectives. For example, in the given
case study of TFG, the top-level management are the ones who set the vision and mission statement
that will be followed in by the TFG group. They are the ones who select the services that are to be
provided by the Group as well determining where they operate and the strategies to follow. This
level of management includes the board of directors, partners, the managing director, chief
executive officers, management committees and other governing bodies. In the given case study
Michael Lewis, the chairman, Mr Thunstrom the CEO, Mrs Ntuli the CFO and Mr Davin the Lead
Independent Non-Executive Director are some of the top-level management.
The next level is the middle management level. The management in this level are referred as the
functional managers of the business organisation for example in the hotel industry it will include
the Human resource manager, Group sales manager or marketing manager. They are responsible
for the implementation of the strategies, policies and plans formulated by top management. These
