 Worden gevormd bij fotosynthese (6 CO2 + 6 H2O  C6H12O6 + 6 O2) door planten
 Microniveau: standaardformule CnH2mOm
 Koolhydraten in ring van 5/6 C-atomen > sachariden/suikers


MONO- EN DISACHARIDEN
 Monosachariden bestaan uit 1 ring van 5(pentose)/6(hexose) C-atomen (binas 67F1)
 Disachariden bestaan uit 2 ringen van 5/6 C-atomen (binas 67F2)
 Bijvoorbeeld door reactie van 2 monosachariden waarbij ook H 2O afsplitst (omgekeerd = hydrolyse)




POLYSACHARIDEN
 Uit monosachariden kan op dezelfde manier een polysacharide gevormd worden (binas 67F3)




 Als monosacharide meerdere OH-groepen heeft kan polysacharide vertakt zijn
 Energievorming (hydrolyse): OH −( C 6 H 10 O 5 )−H +n−1 H 2 O →n C 6 H 12 O 6 + energie
