By Going into details and looking at what possible threats like black hat hackers, different hacking software’s that being used, and the impact of these problems which can cost a company like AT&T in the millions of dollars due to improper malware invasions. The goal of this paper is to give the board and decision-makers at AT&T a guideline to build a better infrastructure to prevent possible threats in the future. In addition, we will hope to educate them about the different types of hackers, the dollar amount of these malicious threats, and the impact of not having the appropriate cybersecurity team in place that can fight these potential problems. Moreover, driving home why it’s important to have an in- house ethical hacker that can oversee and maintain their entire infrastructure. Introduction The company I have selected for my course project in class, SEC311 Ethical Hacking, is the Fortune 9 company AT&T corporation. With over $170 million dollars in revenues, AT&T ranks #1 in the telecommunication industry as of; (“AT&T,” 2019). With being the leader in the telecommunication industry, these accomplishments come with big risks, especially in the overall IT infrastructure of the company. After losing more than $23 million in revenue due to employees mismanaging customers data information, my goal is to educate management about ethical hackers, malicious software, and why pen testing is important, through policies and procedures. “CEO Randall Stephenson finally got regulators to sign off on his $104 billion acquisition (including debt) of Time Warner in June, despite President Trump’s objections. The deal—adding a movie studio plus the cable programming empire that includes CNN and HBO— helped boost AT&T’s revenue by 6% to $171 billion for the year (“AT&T,” 2019).” Therefore, AT&T’s new super-fast 5G wireless network can come to the rescue and this will be the best time ever for AT&T to take advantage of why cyber-security, ethical hackers, and the proper infrastructure are so important.
