Conception
First Month - Conception begins with sexual intercourse between Suzy and her partner. At some point, her partner’s sperms will be
ejaculated into Suzy cervix during sexual intercourse. The sperms will make its journey to fertilise the egg, which is released by the
ovaries each month due to the menstrual cycle, but only one sperm can penetrate Suzy egg.
The journey will take up to 2-3 days, in order to enable the fertilisation to take place, for example, Suzy had sexual intercourse on the
10th, and her partner’s sperm will arrive in the egg by 13th-15th.
During these days, Suzy will start to notice that her period cycle has stopped, which can be a sign of being pregnant because during the
menstrual cycle. One of the ovaries matures an egg within the follicle because Suzy’s oestrogen level has risen and it happens monthly.
Suzy’s egg will be pushed into the thin fallopian, which cooperates with the ovaries to the uterus in other words, “Suzy’s womb”. The egg
will then wait and during the wait and the sexual intercourse was taking place, which means Suzy is very likely to get pregnant without
contraception being used.
Not all of the sperms are going to be able to reach the egg, as they will lose their way or some will just not be able to make it. A quarter
of them will be able to carry on but only one sperm can fertilise the egg and the rest would eventually die gradually.
One sperm has reached to Suzy’s egg, which means it will now fertilise the egg to make an embryo. This action is considered to be,
“fertilisation” which is enabling to combine and create a DNA. During fertilisation, there will be 23 chromosomes of male, which is
contained in the sperm and 23 chromosomes, belonging to Suzy, which is contained in her egg. Both 23 chromosomes will eventually
emerge during the process, in order to create the genetic gender that will determinate the sex, appearance, intelligence and personality
of Suzy’s infant. This is the process of making a new human being (DNA). Suzy’s partner sperm was an “X” chromosome, meaning the
gender is a male, whereas if the chromosome were a “Y”, it would mean the gender would be a female. In this case, the infant will
become a male named Alfie but the gender would not be recognised at this stage since the sex organs have not been developed. After
fertilisation, Suzy’s egg will stay in the fallopian tube for at least four days, during those four days Suzy’s egg will begin to divide into two
cells and it will divide again by the number of new cells every twelve hours. Suzy’s egg is now considered, as a zygote and now contains
thirty-two cells, looking like a raspberry (morula). After another few days, it had become attached to the lining of the uterus, leaving
Suzy’s uterus lining thicker and Suzy’s cervix is now sealed by mucus until Afire is born. Suzy menstrual cycle will then stop releasing eggs
monthly because her body knows she is officially pregnant.
