Abuse is define as single or repeated act or lack of appropriates action happen
in any relationship where there is expectation of trust which cause harm or
distress to an individual.
There is different type of abuses which vulnerable adults may experience in the
care which are: Sexual, Physical, Emotional, Psychological, Financial and
material, Modern slavery, Discrimination, Organisation or institutional, Neglect
(Self harm), Racial, Spousal, Elder, Discriminatory.
Physical abuse is when somebody harm someone on purpose such as hitting
with hand or objective, throwing, poisoning, burning, scratching and breaking
bones.
Its way of intentionally cause physical harm to young person. It makes up the
symptoms of illness or cause a child to become unwell.
Emotional or psychological abuse is type of abuse that involve continual
emotional mistreatment of child. Emotional abuse can include deliberately try
to scare, humiliate, isolate or ignore a child. They may tell they will lose their
accommodation if they tell anyone what has happened
Emotional abuse is difficult to spot signs or tell difference. Emotional may be
experienced by adults like threating, blaming, trying to control their live
because of their disability, exposing an adult to upset event, situations, do not
allow them to have friends and manipulating.
Example: if someone is being bullied and can lead to child committing suicide
the same thing happened to vulnerable adult. The person is being bully in care
home and find difficult to get away from bully due to their disability.
Sexual abuse is a young adult is sexually abuse, they are forced or tick into
sexual activities which might they not understand that what is happening or
that its wrong. Also, afraid to tell someone. Sexual abuse can happen
anywhere such as can happen online by receiving inappropriate pics or videos
from strangers and asking you to involve sexually.
There are 2 types of sexual abuse which are contact and non-contact abuse.
Contact abuse is where an abuser makes physical contact with young adult
such as sexually touching part of adult women body whether are clothed or

, not and using a body part of somebody. Forcing an adult girl to take part in
sexual activities. Contact abuse can be touching, kissing and oral sex.
Non- Contact abuse so where an adult abused without being touch by abuser it
can be in person or online such as show pornography, exposing, making them
masturbate, forcing on adult to make and view or share adult abuse photos
and videos and forcing adult to take part in sexual activity by smart phone or
online conversation.
By knowing signs of sexual abuse can help to give a voice to vulnerable adult
and sometimes we will not understand what’s happening to them is wrong and
might scare to speak out and
Bullying and Cyber bullying
Bulling is behaviour that hurt someone else such as name calling, hit, push,
spreading rumour, treating or undermining someone it can happen anywhere
like school, home or online. It’s usually repeat long time of period and can hurt
a person both physically and emotionally. For example: The manager at care
home, may bully staff into working long or extra hour which frighten them if
they refused such they will get fired.
There are different types of bullying such as
Physical is hitting, slapping or pushing someone
Verbal is name calling, gossip or threaten someone
Non-verbal is hand sign or text messages
Emotional is threaten, intimidate or humiliate someone
Exclusion is ignoring and isolating someone
Undermining is spread rumours
Controlling or manipulating someone
Making silent or abusing calls
Hater crime is also type of bullying such as racial, sexual, bullying someone
because of their disability.
Cyber- bullying: Cyberbullying is bullying that take place online and unlike
bullying in real world. Also online bullying can follow a person wherever they
go on social medias, gaming and phone.
