Describe the main physical and technological resources required in the
operation of harlow college

Harlow college is a college in harlow that provides education to over 16s in the local area.
Harlow college uses physical resources and technological resources. A physical resource is
something that is tangible and can be physically touched whereas a technological resources
is something that can’t be touched and is software.

Ten of the physical resources used by harlow college are the buildings, computers,
machinery, ipads, printers, materials, waste, insurance, security and emergency provision.

Building and facilities
Building and facilities are the physical resources which is used to help the business function.
In harlow colleges example the buildings are used to provide the educational services. It is
designed to look appealing to the potential students who are looking at the facilities that the
college has and can offer for their respective course.

Computers
Computers are a physical resource. They are a physical resource because you can use a
computer and touch it. The college uses computers to organise its students. It also helps
students in certain subjects with their courses.

Machinery
Machinery is used by businesses to produce and mannafacture goods. Harlow college uses
machinery in its aid to educate young adults in certain courses. Such courses as
engineering, where the machinery is used to create products used in the course itself.

Ipads
Harlow college is an apple distinguished school. This means that they allow every student to
have access to an Ipad after they have paid the £50 deposit. These tablets are used
constantly by both staff and student in the aid of achieving the highest grade possible when
it comes to their particular course. The college also uses the Ipads to reduce the amount of
waste that they produce so that they are able to protect the environment with using less
paper.

Printers
Harlow college uses printers to print of documents which are used to help the students and
teachers who are at the college. Although the college mainly keeps information digital to
reduce its waste, they still on occassion print things out.

Materials
Materials are needed by businesses as they are dependent on resources in the running of a
certain business. In harlow colleges case they need materials such as paper, pens and
pencils.
