Scenario
You have been recruited as a microbiology technician working in the microbiology labs at QUB.
Part of your role will include running safely practical’s for undergraduate microbiology students.
Produce a learning guide to explain the advantages and disadvantages of microscopy and
compare the main structures and functions of prokaryotic, eukaryotic and akaryotic cells.
Include information about specimen collection and explain aseptic technique used along with
biochemical tests to identify microorganisms. Explain the effectiveness of the biochemical tests
used to identify different bacterial species.
