HOW TO COPY YOUR PAGE INTO THIS TEMPLATE

You will see that the first question below asks you to copy your page into this template. You
may have to copy and paste the text and the images from your page separately. First, select
all the text in your page, come back to this template, right-click and select “Paste”.

After pasting the text of your page into the template you have to copy the pictures (if you
have any) and paste them where you want them to appear. There are two ways to get a
picture from your page into the template:

1) The simple way. Right-click on the picture on your page, select "Copy image", come
back to the template, right click and select "Paste".

2) The long way. If the simple way doesn't work for you (it depends on how your
computer is set up) then do the following: Right-click on the picture on your page,
select "Save image" and save it somewhere on your computer. Next, come back to
the template, go to the "Insert" tab, select "Picture", go to where the picture is on
your computer, select the picture and click on "Insert".

HOW TO CONVERT YOUR PORTFOLIO TO A PDF DOCUMENT

You can submit your portfolio as a Word document or in pdf format. If you have lots of
pictures you may find that the Word document is too big to submit. In that case, just
convert it to pdf before submitting it. From the “File” menu choose “Save as” and then
choose PDF as the file type. When you submit, you can choose to submit the .pdf version of
the document rather than the .doc or .docx version. It is up to you.

Now please answer the questions below in the spaces provided.

LGBTQI And Christianity

, Background
LGBTQI is an abbreviation that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and
intersex. These form part of sexual orientations that tend to be shunned from societies and
certain religious practices. The word “homosexual” carries highly negative connotations in the
sense that these people are often excluded from their basic rights to be part of a church and
certain religions as these religions deem it sinful and unrighteous.
In Christianity, being part of the LGBTQI community is an abomination. The Bible refers to these
activities as unnatural and sinful. Parents and families of homosexuals often disown them as
they don’t agree with the lifestyle, forgetting that people are born this way. Homosexuality is not
something that can be forgotten, or forced away, it is something you are born with and
experience from a young age before even knowing what it means.
This page will focus on explaining more about homosexuality and religion - especially Christianity
and how it affects the lives of LGBTQ individuals, and also motivating
and encouraging people to live their truth.

Becoming A Community
The LGBT Community is often rejected by society, therefore the community sticks together, and
they work together to make things better for themselves, and they fight for what is right. The
individuals are bullied and made fun of, but being themselves is all that really matters to them.
The community was initiated by LGBTQ members to fight for their freedom and rights to love
and be themselves. The community comes together once a year, all over the world for a festival
called Pride - which they have invented where they walk the streets in whichever city they live
in, wearing clothes they are comfortable in and that represents who they are, as a celebration of
their freedom, and to express how proud they are to be different. Pride is not only for members
of the LGBTQI community, supporters and families often walk with them, to express that they
fully support and love the community.
For many years people have been very prejudice and negative towards other people who are
different. Members of the community have been bullied, assaulted, raped, murdered, victimized
and sent to jail for being who they are, and loving who they want to love. These actions
happened, and continue to happen all around the world.
In South Africa, years ago there was a barrier between the law, Apartheid and LGBTQI.
Individuals were not able to fight for justice in the community as they were either excluded due to
Apartheid, or they did not have a community to fight with. South Africa officially legalized
homosexuality and same-sex marriage in 2005 post-apartheid, and this gave people the freedom
to be themselves, and to form a community. However, to this day people still have opinions and
rejections towards it.
