PECT (Pennsylvania Educator Certification Tests) Study Guide Framework for All Modules
This guide is intended for candidates preparing for teacher certification in Pennsylvania. PECT is administered by Pearson, and different certification pathways correspond to different assessment combinations. The PreK–4 assessment consists of three modules: Module 1 (Child Development, Assessment, and Professionalism, #8006), Module 2 (Language, Social Studies, and Arts, #8007), and Module 3 (Mathematics, Science, and Health, #8008); candidates must pass all three modules to qualify for certification. The Special Education PreK–8 and Special Education 7–12 assessments each consist of two modules, both of which must be passed. Additionally, PAPA is a basic skills test used for admission to educator preparation programs (covering reading, mathematics, and writing), and is no longer a mandatory requirement for certification, though it can be used as an alternative pathway to meet admission standards. Each PECT module is scored independently, and it is recommended to use official practice tests and objective checklists for targeted preparation.
