F31.10 Bipolar I Disorder, Current Episode Depressed, Moderate
Z63.4 Problems in marital relationship.
Faridah is a thirty-two-year-old African American man who has recently been pursuing
psychiatric help for his steadily rising depressive disorder and thoughts of suicide in the past
several months. He previously parted ways with his spouse of several years and has been
residing at the home of his older sister although. Faridah does have a record of binge episodes.
He now drinks on occasion as more than just a stress-reduction measure. Faridah has been
experiencing a somber mood, increased anxiety, and active suicidal thoughts for several months.
He does not, however, acknowledge having a detailed suicidal plan. Faridah's mental health
assessment discloses that he is directed to three areas, or his previous and reclusive recollection
seems unchanged. He, however, still denied any delusions or paranormal experiences. Sixteen
years ago, Faridah was involved in a vehicular accident that left him unconscious. Faridah also
has a toe that sustained a fracture due to a vehicular accident from sixteen years ago. Faridah
reports having an allergic reaction to codeine and consuming two packs of cigarettes daily.
According to the data provided in the given scenario, I was able to diagnose Faridah with F31.10
Bipolar I Disorder, Current Episode Depressed, Moderate, and Z63.4 Marital Relationship
Problems. Faridah meets the DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria for Bipolar I Disorder, with present
symptoms of depression such as a depressed state, fearfulness, passive suicidal thoughts,
decreased self-esteem, guilt/self-blame, loss of motivation, low productivity, and difficulty in
concentrating. He does indeed have a record of alcohol binge episodes, something that he utilizes
as nothing more than a stress and coping method. His partner reports that he experiences changes
in mood and an arrogant demeanor. He also has a past of low self-esteem, sleep deprivation, and
