Program Planning as a Leader
For a program to be successful the administrator’s job is necessary and very important.
As an administrator their role as an instructional leader is to set the tone on how you want the
facility to be ran. The administrator job is to be supported and to gain knowledge and skills
within the workforce to achieve an effective program at a leadership level. Their job is essential
to make sure that the center is ran properly. An administrator needs to gain the trust and respect
of all employees. The administrator job is important they work in every level of education from
hiring and supervising staff, budgets, communicate with the educators to help with curriculum
and communicate with the parents as well. An administrator has to make sure that all policies
and procedures are adhered to. Overall, they help shape and uphold the vision of the school. For
this assignment my particular age group is preschoolers and I will also explain how my
philosophy, vision, and mission align with my program and how my program will align with
NAEYC’s indicators of effective curriculum.
Describe the role of the early childhood administrator as an instructional leader
implementing high-quality program models, theory, and curriculum into your early
childhood program.
The role of the administrator has exciting leadership opportunities. The administrator has
a role in helping with the curriculum, budgets, timelines, state regulations, as well as
performance measures to make sure that the educators are meeting their personal and
professional goals. The role of an early childhood administrator also helps in developing and
implementing an emergent curriculum includes creating time and space for teachers to plan and
, collaborate, providing guidance and mentoring to teachers new to the process, and serving as an
enthusiastic ambassador when communicating with parents about the benefits of the approach."
(Gadzikowski, 2013). They prepare classroom activities to assist the program and curriculum.
Administrators need to work with the educators to make sure that the children are successful in
all areas of their education. Administrators make sure that all policies and procedures are in
place.
Briefly describe the learning and developmental needs of your chosen age group.
The age group I chose is preschoolers. Preschoolers pick up and adjust on so many things
from everyone around them. No two children are alike, which means that all children learn
differently and at different speeds. Vygotsky believed that children learn first through
interactions with others and then repeating the actions they witness themselves
(Gadzikowski,2013). At this age which is between the ages of 3 and 5 they usually learn their
social skills and how to care for themselves. Preschoolers begin to develop gross and fine motor
skills as well as cognitive skills and social, and emotional skills. At this age they need a
curriculum tailored to their age that promotes growth and development.
Analyze how your program will address the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical
development of children in this age group (give specific curricular ideas for each area
of development), as well as classroom management, individual assessment, and the
daily schedule.
As the administrator, I will follow the Frog Street Curriculum at my preschool center.
For my assessment I will use the CLI engage that will monitor the progress of each student in the
classroom. This is an assessment tool that evaluate the development and growth of children
during their time at preschool. How I will address the social, cognitive, emotional and physical
