,How to Use This Guide
My rule: do not study the SIE as 300 isolated definitions. Study it as one connected system. Capital flows from savers to
issuers, securities represent claims, markets provide liquidity, and regulators establish the rules.
Pass 1 — Understand
Read for meaning. Do not stop every two lines to memorize a definition. Ask who is acting, what is being traded, who
receives the money, and who carries the risk.
Pass 2 — Connect
Link concepts. For example: inflation → interest rates → bond prices → yields. Or primary market → underwriting → new
issue → disclosure.
Pass 3 — Recall
Close the book and reconstruct the concept from memory. If you cannot explain it simply, you do not own it yet.
Pass 4 — Test
Use the practice questions. Explain why the wrong answers are wrong. That is much stronger than recognizing the right
answer.
