S van Dyk TPS2602 Assignment 01

SONIKA VAN DYK

TPS2602 Assignment 01
Assignment unique number: 876914

1. My teaching philosophy
I want to be a teacher because I have a passion for children and helping others learn. I
want to teach senior phase learners (age 13-15) because when I was that age, it was
the best time of my life. I would enjoy watching the learners every day and remembering
how I also used to be like that.
I believe learners learn best by having fun. When you make a lesson fun for them, they
actually want to participate. When I teach, I try to involve the learners as much as
possible in the decision making of the lesson. It makes them feel like their feelings are
acknowledged.
Teaching is a vital profession in South Africa, because there are so many people who
are less fortunate. People who really want to become something when they are older
but do not have the finances to go to school.
When I receive my teaching degree, I want to provide less fortunate learners with
resources and textbooks that they can use to study. I want to provide extra classes for
these learners at their own homes, so that they can also learn and make a success of
their lives. I believe that in this way, I will make a difference.
2. CAPS Activity:
2.1. To ensure that learners receive and apply what they have learnt in ways that
will benefit them in the future.
2.2. Identify and solve problems in creative ways
- To work effectively when working alone and in groups.
2.3. 5 hours
2.4. Section 4 is about assessment.
2.5. Minister of Basic Education – Mrs. Angie Motshekga
2.6. Introduction of the subject, Content and teaching plans and assessment in the
subject.

3. CO- Teaching
3.1. One teacher teaches and the other one observes. In the school where I am
doing my teaching practice, it can sometimes be hard to get the learners
under control. Therefore, if one teacher observes certain learners and their
behavior and the other one teaches, it helps the teachers to stay in charge of
discipline and to minimize disruptive behavior.
