PSY 7864-PSY7864 Unit 10 DAA One Way ANOVA Hall Nikita Data Analysis and Application (DAA): One-Way ANOVA 2 Data Analysis and Application (DAA): One-Way ANOVA For this assignment, the data file ‘’ was used. The variables utilized were section and quiz3. Section and quiz3 were used in histogram scales, along with skewness and kurtosis. A null and alternative hypothesis will be provided in this assignment, as well as alpha level, and interpretation of results for the one-way ANOVA. Section 1: Data File Description The data set ‘’ has a sample size (N) of 105. The test variable, or outcome variable, is ‘quiz3’, as the comparisons would be made between three groups of scores on ‘quiz3’[ CITATION War13 l 1033 ]. This variable is classified as a ratio level of measurement as the scores under ‘quiz3’ have interval level of measurement properties and also have a true zero point (Warner, 2013). The test variable, ‘section’, is a qualitative variable, along the lines of nominal scale of measurement, as there are only three sections in which the participants within the sample are categorized within (Warner, 2013). Section 2: Testing Assumptions Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is a “procedure used for comparing sample means to see if there is sufficient evidence to infer that the means of the corresponding population distributions also differ”[CITATION Geo16 p 158 l 1033 ]. A one-way ANOVA is a technique that can be used to compare means of two or more samples [ CITATION War13 l 1033 m Geo16]. There are several assumptions to a one-way ANOVA for it to be considered reliable. The first assumption is that the response variable residuals are normally distributed, or approximately normally distributed [ CITATION War13 l 1033 m Geo16]. The second assumption is that the variances of populations are equal [ CITATION War13 l 1033 m Geo16]. The third is that Data Analysis and Application (DAA): One-Way ANOVA 3 responses for a given group are independent and identically distributed normal random variables[ CITATION War13 l 1033 m Geo16].
