Applied accounting practice test
60 ORIGINAL QUESTIONS | SELF-MARKING PDF
Editorial review edition - not yet cleared for commercial release. A qualified subject specialist must review
the technical content and confirm the relevant sitting's syllabus before sale.
Prepared 28 September 2026. This is an independent SA Tutors supplementary practice test. It is not
produced, approved or endorsed by SAIPA or SAICA. Organisation and standard names identify the
intended study area only.
This knowledge-and-application bank uses the interactive format of the supplied sample. It is shorter and
narrower than the actual assessment, which requires integrated written responses and workings. It is not a
full-length mock examination or a substitute for official preparation.
How to use this file
1. Download and open in desktop Adobe Acrobat Reader. Browser previews, Apple Preview and mobile
readers may not execute PDF JavaScript.
2. Select one radio-button answer per question. Work calculations on separate paper. Save a separate copy
for each attempt.
3. On the results page, select Recalculate score. Compatible readers also update the result when an answer
changes. Do not open the answer section until you finish.
4. Every question earns one mark. Incorrect and unanswered questions earn zero; there is no negative
marking. Percentage uses all 60 questions, not only answered questions.
5. If scoring does not run, use the printed key and explanations. Enable scripting only if your security policy
permits it; never weaken organisation-wide settings just for this file.
6. Suggested independent practice time: 100 minutes. This is a publisher suggestion, not the official exam
duration. No official pass threshold is applied.

SCOPE AND ASSUMPTIONS
What this pack covers
Reporting: 16 questions
Tax: 10 questions
Management: 13 questions
Controls: 8 questions
Ethics: 4 questions
Law & advice: 5 questions
Digital: 4 questions
The allocation above is an editorial practice blueprint, not official exam weighting. Financial reporting
questions use the named standard and supplied assumptions. Full-IFRS rules must not be silently
substituted for IFRS for SMEs or public-sector reporting rules.
Calculations use ZAR (R). Each tax calculation gives its required rate and simplifications. Assume no
additional exemptions, losses, recoupments, tax incentives or adjustments unless stated. Round only where
requested. These simplified examples are not taxpayer advice.
Sources were reviewed selectively, not exhaustively. Official assessment pages, public standards
summaries and regulator guidance informed topic selection; no paid course or official past-paper question
has been reproduced. Source codes beside explanations point to the reference directory. They support
further verification, not an assertion of exhaustive syllabus mapping.
Coverage limits
This introductory/intermediate bank does not cover the complete PE syllabus, detailed personal tax, all legal
requirements or the full IFRS for SMEs framework. It also does not assess extended client reports or full sets
of financial statements.
Before commercial release
Obtain qualified technical review, pilot the questions for ambiguity and difficulty, confirm source/licensing and
trademark requirements, and test scoring in the supported Reader version. Publication of this draft must not
be described as accredited, endorsed, complete syllabus coverage or a pass guarantee.
