QUESTION 1: (30) 1.1 Explain why selecting age-appropriate texts to teach reading is important. (5) 1.2 Provide three characteristics each on the following reading approaches: • Group guided reading • Shared reading • Independent reading (3x3=9) 1.3 Read the scenario and answer the questions that follow. Miss Lesedi was conducting what she described as a shared reading lesson. She asked Lisa to distribute graded readers to the different reading groups. One learner from each group was instructed to read aloud when it was their group’s turn, while the rest of the class followed the text silently. The other groups waited patiently for their turn to read. Miss Lesedi reminded learners that listening quietly was part of good reading behaviour.
