, HREDU82 ASSIGNMENT 4 (INCLUSIVE EDUCATION)
DUE DATE: 13 OCTOBER 2026
Teachers’ Experiences of Implementing Inclusive Education in Mainstream Schools:
Challenges, Support and Classroom Practices
1. Introduction
The methodology provides a systematic framework for investigating teachers’ experiences
of implementing inclusive education in mainstream schools. A carefully developed
methodology is important because it establishes how information will be collected, analysed
and interpreted in order to address the research objectives. Inclusive education involves
creating learning environments in which diverse learners, including learners who
experience barriers to learning, can participate meaningfully in education (Department of
Education, 2001). Understanding how teachers experience and respond to inclusion can
therefore provide valuable insight into the practical realities of implementing inclusive
education.
The study will adopt a qualitative research approach because it seeks to explore
teachers’ experiences, perceptions and challenges regarding inclusive education.
Qualitative research is appropriate when the purpose is to develop an in-depth
understanding of participants’ views and experiences within their particular contexts
(Creswell & Poth, 2018). The research will be located within an interpretivist paradigm,
which recognises that individuals construct meaning from their experiences and social
contexts (Creswell & Poth, 2018).
Semi-structured interviews will be used to collect data from purposively selected teachers.
The data will be analysed using thematic analysis. The methodology will cover the research
type, data collection, participant selection, data analysis, research quality and ethical
considerations.
