, HREDU82 ASSIGNMENT 4 (PSYCHOLOGY)
DUE DATE: 13 OCTOBER 2026
The influence of social media use on the psychological well-being of university
students.
1. Introduction
The methodology provides a systematic framework for investigating the relationship
between social media use and the psychological well-being of university students. It
explains the procedures that will be followed to collect, analyse and interpret data in a
manner that addresses the research objectives. A carefully designed methodology is
important because the quality of research findings depends on the appropriateness and
rigour of the methods used to obtain and analyse evidence (Creswell & Creswell, 2018).
This study will adopt a quantitative research approach because the research seeks to
measure patterns of social media use and psychological well-being and examine the
relationship between these variables. A positivist paradigm will guide the study, as the
research will focus on observable and measurable variables and the use of systematic
procedures to produce empirical evidence (Bryman, 2016). Data will be collected through a
structured questionnaire administered to university students.
The methodology discusses the research type and philosophical paradigm, data collection
procedures, participant selection and sampling, data analysis, research validity and
reliability, and ethical considerations. These components collectively provide a framework
for producing credible and ethically obtained findings.
2. Research Type
The study will employ a quantitative research approach. Quantitative research involves
the systematic collection and analysis of numerical data to examine relationships, patterns
and differences between measurable variables (Creswell & Creswell, 2018). This approach
is appropriate because the study aims to investigate whether social media use is
