## Chapter 1: Bronchiolitis
A 4-month-old infant is brought to the emergency department with a 3-day history of nasal congestion,
low-grade fever, and progressive respiratory distress. The mother reports the infant has been feeding
poorly and has had fewer wet diapers. On assessment, the infant has a respiratory rate of 68
breaths/min, intercostal retractions, and audible wheezing. Nasal flaring is present. A nasal swab
confirms respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
