Gap-graded aggregate is unacceptable because it does not have a consistent range of particle
sizes. In a good concrete mix, smaller particles fill the spaces between bigger particles, resulting in
a thick and stable combination. When some intermediate particle sizes are lacking, the aggregate
particles do not pack tightly.
