Steps in evidence based practice:




Improving health and social care through evidence based practice; NICE guidelines:
- National guidance and advice to improve health and social care
- Provide governance, up-to-date procedures and publications
- To be used by health care, scientists, patients and/or the public

There are recognised frameworks for conducting evidence based practice:
P = patient or problem
I = intervention
C = comparison
O = outcome

Sourcing the evidence :
- Vast array of resources - databases (ex. Pubmed, medline, web of science to find research papers)
- Cochrane library - systematic reviews summarising results from a large number of studies
- Use as many search terms as possible, and the different terms used to describe a condition/injury
- Use Boolean operators

The hierarchy of evidence:
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses
