time of initial licensure.
waiver some states may license nurses by waiver and
examination. when applicants do no meet all the
requirements for licensure but have equivalent
qualifications, the specific prerequisites of education,
experience, or examination may be waived
examination some states will not recognize out of state
licensed nurses and make it mandatory that all
applicants pass a licensing examination.
Suspension and Revocation of nurse licensing boards have the authority to
License suspend or revoke the license of a nurse who is
found to have violated specified norms of
conduct. most cases suspension and
revocation proceedings are administrative rather than
judicial and do not carry criminal sanctions
Registered Nurse graduated from an accredited nursing program
and has passed a licensing exam known as the
NCLEX
NCLEX National Council Licensure Examination. Examinations
are developed and owned by National Council of State
Boards of Nursing Inc.
