teratogen - ANS-chemical that can cause harm to the prenatal enviornment
-alcohol/cocaine. I will never drink alcohol when I'm pregnant.
FAS - ANS-abnormalities of the child resulting from drinking alcohol during pregnancy
-This is a reason I won't drink while I'm pregnant.
Turner's syndrome - ANS-person born with only 1 X chromosome
extreme shortness, webbed neck, and unusual sexual development
klinefelter's syndrome - ANS-person born with an extra X chromosome
minimal sexual development and extreme introversion
Down's syndrome - ANS-extra chromosome on the 21st pair of chromosomes
rounded face, shorter fingers, wide set eyes, low cognitive ability
-One of my classmates has Down's Syndrome.
maturation - ANS-growth of a person, physically, mentally, and emotionally
example: some people are act mature, while some still act like they're little kids
a 4 month old cannot use language because the brain has not fully matured yet
schema - ANS-thought process used to solve problems
-makes me think of schemes and planning to solve some sort of interesting situation
you recognize dogs to have 4 legs, bark, and have a tail
assimiliation - ANS-learning new information and applying it to what you already know
-I think of Algebra, because you need to learn basics before you can advance on
in gymnastics, you need to learn easier skills before moving on
accomodate - ANS-to adapt one's current understandings to incorporate new info
-Knowing multiplication before learning how to divide

not dogs, but cats
