2027 AHIP
Study Guide
A condensed, plain-English recertification companion covering Medicare
basics, Medicare Advantage, Part D, marketing rules, enrollment periods,
compliance, and fraud/waste/abuse — with quick-fact boxes and
practice questions in every section.
How this guide was built: every section below is written in original language for
fast review and active recall. It is not a copy of any certification vendor's
materials, and it is not a substitute for your official AHIP/CMS coursework —
use it to reinforce what you've already studied.

Before You Start: 2026 vs. 2027 Dollar Figures
CMS releases Medicare dollar amounts on two different schedules, and this
guide follows the same year-labeling as the official AHIP/CMS training materials
it was built from:
Medicare Advantage and Part D figures (deductible, out-of-pocket threshold,
MOOP, insulin cap, and similar) for the 2027 plan year were already finalized
when this guide was prepared, so those are the numbers used throughout.
Original Medicare Part A and Part B figures (premiums, deductibles,
coinsurance) for 2027 are announced by CMS later in the year — typically in
October or November — and had not yet been released as of this guide's
preparation.
Wherever a Part A or Part B dollar figure appears in this guide, it is the most
recently confirmed amount — 2026 — and is always marked "(2026)" right next to
the number, so you always know exactly which year it reflects.
Before your exam or before advising a client, confirm the current Part A/B figures
at Medicare.gov or CMS.gov in case CMS has since published the official 2027
amounts.
