This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project investigates whether a targeted
educational intervention impacts emergency nurses’ interprofessional collaboration skills,
particularly with paramedics in the prehospital care environment. Utilizing a quantitative,
quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design, the study evaluates changes in
participants' scores on the Interprofessional Collaborative Competency Attainment Survey-
Revised (ICCAS-R). The convenience sample includes post-graduate trained emergency
nurses from two major healthcare systems in Melbourne, Australia. Data will be collected
electronically through SurveyMonkey and analyzed using SPSS.
The primary instrument, the ICCAS-R, is a validated tool that measures self-reported
competencies across six domains of interprofessional collaboration (Schmitz et al., 2017).
The ICCAS-R will be administered both before and after the intervention to determine the
impact of the educational program. Demographic data, including age, gender, education, and
years of emergency experience, will also be collected. This paper outlines the data analysis
and management strategies used to ensure statistical integrity, confidentiality, and compliance
with ethical standards.
Data Analysis Plan
The data analysis plan for this DNP project will use data collected from pre- and post-
intervention surveys which will be analyzed to determine changes in the ICCAS-R scores the
educational intervention. Further descriptive statistics will form the summary of demographic
variables which also will be collected that include age, gender, and place of birth for
example. The descriptive statistics seek to provide a picture of the study population to
evaluate the generalizability of the study. The analysis will be conducted using IBM SPSS,
and the level of significance that will be used to accept or reject the evaluative outcome will
be 95% or a p-value of ≤ .05.
