What does the MRG do? - ANS-Takes high speed low torque and converts it to low
speed high torque through a double pinion (reduction) system
dehumidifier - ANS-removes moisture from the air inside the MRG to prevent internal
rusting (I/P only)
vent fog precipitator - ANS-removes airborne oil fog emanating from MRG before it can
be discharged into the mainspace (U/W only)
How does fixed pitch propeller work? - ANS-blades and hub form a single integral
casting and therefore you must spin in two different directions to change from forward to
astern
How does CPP work? - ANS-control system positions the propeller blades, permitting a
range of thrust from full ahead to full astern while the main propulsion machinery
continues to operate in the same direction of shaft rotation
What is a heat exchanger, how does it work - ANS-transfers heat from one substance to
another utilizing the principle of convection
heat flows from high to low
greater the temp difference the faster the heat transfer
can regulate utilizing valves
