Signature Themes
To accompany this paper, a PDF copy of my CliftonStrengths Signature Themes Report
has been uploaded. My five signature themes were: Harmony, Developer, Empathy, Context, and
Relator.
Reflection on CliftonStrengths
The first signature theme that appears in my report is Harmony. According to my report,
there is little to be gained from conflict, so I seek to limit this whenever possible. This theme
implies that I do not enjoy conflict and desire to keep all team members on a smooth course,
working towards a common goal. I have often observed this within my professional life, as I
often avoid competing opinions and focus solely on the matter at hand. For example, in my most
recent role, I was tasked with training and licensing potential foster parents in North Carolina.
Potential parents would often complain about the sheer number of documents they needed to
submit in order to become licensed and attempt whatever bargaining they could to avoid the
work. To address this, I validated their feelings of frustration and made several concessions:
assisting them with the documentation, extending deadlines, and in the most extreme cases,
completing tasks for them. As a leader, this skill will allow me to maintain peace among my
team and ensure that we are able to work towards our goals without looming tension. I want my
direct reports to feel safe amongst their teammates and know that their leader will work
diligently to find a solution that appeases everyone.
The second signature theme that appears in my report is Developer. In essence, I am able
to see the potential in others and commit to helping them develop into the best versions of
themselves. I tend to view peers as a continuous work in progress, bursting with endless
