Summary and Reflection

others undertaking such a project?

Completing this EPQ project involved me learning a very
valuable experience, I have gained new knowledge and
understanding throughout this project, not just about the Covid
19 pandemic itself. Moreover, I learnt how to carry out
independent research. I chose to look at the long-term effects of
the pandemic on individual human experiences. Throughout my
research I have learnt how the pandemic has reshaped every part
of daily life, from our mental and physical health to how we
work, learn, use technology and relate to our families. I found
this entire process very interesting and fascinating, as I lived
through the pandemic. I learnt that there were many negative
effects, however there were also some positive changes that
reshaped our 'New Normal', which helped me evaluate it. I
particularly enjoyed where I would dwell into real life case
studies and their statistics, this ensured me to see the human side
of the data. This helped me create meaning and relevance
through my research.
I think the main strength of my project is that I have successfully
covered a wide range of different areas, looking at eight different
sectors of life ensured my research would have a detailed but also
a multidimensional project. This helped me to create a full
picture of the impacts, rather than just looking at one small part. I
am also proud on the way I have managed to organise my work.
To ensure I would keep on task and organised I broke the project
down week by week, but adapting my plan when necessary. I
managed my time effectively and ensured to stay on track even
when some parts of the research would take longer than I had
expected. Another strength is that I have successfully used a wide
variety of sources, this allowed me to produce a balanced and
reliable piece of work, and throughout this I developed good
skills in referencing and made sure my work was being
consistent and academic all the way through the project.
