heart contracts the sodium potassium pump moves, sodium inside of the cell and potassium outside the cell.
When it relaxes sodium goes back outside of the cell and potassium goes back in. Because digoxin decreases
activity of ATP enzymes and because clients with a hindered sodium potassium pump can have a slower heart
rate. It is important to monitor the heart rate of patients on digoxin.
