Service Line for Education on Diabetes and Proposed Nursing Service Idea
Introducing a diabetes-focused nursing service line is crucial to address the growing
health concerns within the population. With the prevalence of diabetes on the rise, this
specialized service aims to provide tailored care, education, and support to individuals managing
diabetes. By focusing on prevention, management, and improving overall health outcomes, the
service plays a pivotal role in enhancing the well-being of the community it serves. This service
plan brief is to abreast diabetics population about taking greater care of themselves. Despite the
fact that about 3 million people have diabetes in the United States (US), there is a handful of
about ninety-six million people around the age of eighteen who are pre diagnosed with the
condition pre-diabetics (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2019). Self-
management is the primary focus because it is paramount to monitor blood glucose levels and
administer pills (Powers et al., 2017). Although the main focus is self-management, means of
prevention is a very pivotal topic. Most people are not acquainted with the preventative measures
like eating very poorly, and not taking care of their feet the way they should. Usually, patients
come into the hospital and wonder why it is so important for nurses and doctors to inspect their
feet (Rossboth et al., 2020).
Importance
When diabetes is uncontrollable, it leads to other chronic conditions which makes the
patients to seek answers. The medicine connected with diabetes often lead to increased missed
days at work or school, eye issues, and decreased productivity (American Diabetes Association
[ADA], 2018). Diabetes Education Services needs to be a continuous process in the communities
where people can interact, visualize while learning. Educational programs should be geared to fit
