Week 2 Assignment – Final Project Movement Pattern Selection
Movement Pattern: Basketball Jump Shot
Reason: I chose this as the topic for my final project because I believe the jump shot is considered to
be the most important element of technique in basketball and requires a high level of performance.
Therefore, I would like to have a more in depth understanding of the biomechanics behind the jump
shot.
Journals/Industry Leaders:
I plan to use the online library provided by APUS; Trefry Library, as well as NCBI, DOAJ, and Google
Scholar. Some of the peer reviewed articles I have found so far that will benefit me with my final
project are as follows:
“Biomechanics of the Basketball Jump Shot-Six Key Teaching Po.” Journal of physical education,
recreation & dance 64.2 (1993): 67–. Print.
Blazevich, A. (2007). Sports biomechanics. London: A. & C. Black.
Okazaki, Victor H.A, André L.F Rodacki, and Miriam N Satern. “A Review on the Basketball Jump
Shot.” Sports biomechanics 14.2 (2015): 190–205. Web.
Okazaki, Victor Hugo Alves, and André Luiz Félix Rodacki. “Basketball Jump Shot Performed by Adults and
Children.” Human movement 2018.1 (2018): 71–79. Web.
Struzik, A., Pietraszewski, B., & Zawadzki, J. (2014). Biomechanical Analysis of the Jump Shot in
Basketball. Journal of Human Kinetics, 42(1). doi:10.2478/hukin-2014-0062
