Module 3 Assignment: Keys to Successful Time Management
Before starting the doctoral program at American College of Education, I knew time
management would be one of the challenges I would face. Right away I knew this was one of my
weaknesses, therefore, I need to get ahead of this possible problem. Discussing these challenges
and coming up with a plan to manage my time will allow me to be successful while completing
assignments and working on my dissertation. I read through all the time management
approaches, although they all would be helpful, I narrowed it down to seven approaches I felt
were most important to me.
Self-Care
When creating a plan for successful time management skills, self-care is first on my list.
While completing assignments, conducting research and keeping up with readings, it is important
to find a balance in order to promote positive self-care. I love to exercise and go to spin class and
this summer I started going to the 5:00AM class after having my daughter. Going early allows

time to concentrate on schoolwork in the evenings. Eating right, getting exercise and enough
sleep will allow me to focus and have the stamina to complete my studies efficiently. (Education
Corner, 2017) Self-care is very important to me and will be a main priority as I continue my
doctoral coursework.
Target to be Early
Being early is a time management skill I must start being better at. When getting my
master’s, I would often spend my entire Sunday completing my paper for the week, which was
the day it was due. Although working with a time crunch would force me to complete my
assignment, I would feel stressed the entire day. It’s important to see being on time as part of
