Algebra Practice, Linear Equations, Algebra Games, Math Games Math Mystery, Math Puzzle Games, Critical Thinking, Algebra Activities Homeschool Math, Teacher Resources, Grades 6–10 A complete, ready-to-use detective gamebook for engaging secondary mathematics. THE ALGEBRA CASE FILES turns linear equations and algebraic reasoning into a complete mystery investigation. The Grand Equation trophy has disappeared, and students must follow the evidence through ten cases before the Final Challenge. This print-ready resource guides students through essential skills including simplifying expressions, solving one-step and two-step equations, expanding brackets, solving equations with variables on both sides, working with fractions, forming equations from word problems, solving inequalities with the negative sign-flip rule, and rearranging formulae. Every mission includes a Discovery Briefing, worked example, real-world connection, common-mistake reminder, challenge, optional hint, and clue. Students show their working, solve each case, gather evidence, and progress through the investigation. The ten cases use varied formats: timeline ordering, matching, equation solving, code cracking, error detection, logic challenges, sequencing, word-problem translation, inequality classification, and formula analysis. The Final Challenge brings earlier discoveries and badge numbers together for one last deduction. Teachers and tutors receive Teacher Notes, Game Rules, Mission Progress Tracker, Symbols and Icons Guide, Complete Answer Key with worked explanations, Extension Activities, Reflection Questions, and a Certificate of Achievement. Case-by-case progression also provides natural formative assessment. This resource is especially suitable for homeschooling and for parents or educators who want a complete, structured learning experience without having to design the sequence themselves. Clear explanations, examples, hints, and full solutions make it approachable for adults with limited confidence teaching mathematics. Designed for Grades 6–10, the Teacher Notes state alignment with US Common Core, UK GCSE, Australian, Canadian, European, Asian, and International secondary mathematics curriculum standards. Use it for classroom teaching, tutoring, homeschool learning, guided practice, enrichment, review. , Teacher Notes
The Algebra Case Files covers a complete first pass through linear
equations for secondary students across all 10 missions: a short verified
history of algebra, simplifying expressions by collecting like terms, one-step
and two-step equations, equations with brackets, equations with the variable
on both sides, equations with fractions, forming equations from word
problems, solving inequalities including the negative sign-flip rule, and
rearranging formulae.

Ten genuinely different puzzle formats are used across the ten missions,
with no repeats. Expect approximately two to three hours of engaged work
for a typical student, ideally spread across multiple sessions. Every answer,
along with a full worked explanation, is provided in the Complete Answer Key
page.

Mission Progression: A correct answer unlocks the next case. If an answer
is incorrect, students should review the evidence and reasoning, then try
again before advancing. Students should advance only after successfully
solving the current case.

This gamebook is built to align with US Common Core, UK GCSE,
Australian, Canadian, European, Asian, and International secondary
mathematics curriculum standards.

The Algebra Case Files includes a Certificate of Achievement. Upon
successful completion of all 10 missions, the certificate may be signed and
awarded by the teacher.

, Welcome to the Adventure
The trophy case in the main hallway is empty. The Grand Equation, the
engraved plaque Riverbend Middle School's Math Club has held for six years
running, is gone, and Regionals begin in two days.

Taped to the empty glass is a single note reading: Solve your way to me. It
is signed only, The Puzzle Phantom.
