Establishment of Nursing Educational Institutions: Guidelines, Infrastructure, Faculty Norms & Regulatory Compliance (INC). This comprehensive document provides detailed guidelines for establishing and operating nursing educational institutions in India, as per the regulations of the Indian Nursing Council (INC). It covers the eligibility criteria for setting up Schools and Colleges of Nursing (ANM, GNM, B.Sc Nursing, PBBSc Nursing, and M.Sc Nursing), including requirements for parent hospitals, essentiality certificates, and state nursing council permissions. The guide outlines the required physical and academic facilities, including a sample area distribution of 23,720 sq. ft. for the teaching block, with specifications for lecture halls, laboratories (Nursing Foundation, Community Health, Nutrition, OBG/Pediatrics, Pre-clinical Science, Computer), library, and administrative offices. It details staffing norms and faculty qualifications—from Principal (M.Sc Nursing with 15 years experience) to Tutors—across six nursing departments with a 1:10 teacher-student ratio. The document also covers equipment and supplies, clinical facilities (including affiliated hospitals and community health centers), and the critical roles of regulatory bodies (INC, State Nursing Councils, Universities). It explains the accreditation and inspection processes, including first inspections, re-inspections, and routine visits, ensuring institutions meet quality standards for nursing education and practice.
