Greening the supply chain describes a broad diversity of activities that a significant
number of organizations are currently carrying out to install operational control and over greater

objectives of the project are to enhance safety, environmental and health performance.

utilization of water, and energy. Lastly, it is intended to reduce the societal and environmental
ramifications of the business operations upon the global biosphere and local communities and
expand economic and quality of life enhancing prospects that are brought about by the firm’s
business activities.

Green supply chain presents many benefits to a company. Firstly, the green supply chain
reduces supply chain costs. In situations where the costs of raw material input and energy
consumption among others increases, international firms have more direct inducements to
enhance the effectiveness of a range of operating processes. These range from building design
and maintenance, research and development precedencies, and production design and operations.
