COURSE OVERVIEW
NURS-6053 Interprofessional Organizational and Systems Leadership is
a 5-credit, 11-week graduate course designed to develop leadership
skills for transforming nursing and adapting healthcare organizations to
a turbulent environment. Students apply theory-based leadership
competencies to create organizational cultures that achieve quality
patient outcomes and build collaborative interprofessional teams.

• Evaluate the promotion of ethical practice within organizational
policies and practices

THE FINAL PROJECT: OVERVIEW AND CORE COMPONENTS
The NURS-6053 final project is a culminating assignment that typically
involves developing a comprehensive white paper or policy
, proposal for your organization's leadership team. Throughout the
course, you build this project incrementally through a series of
assignments.
The final project typically consists of these core components:
1. Analysis of a Pertinent Healthcare Issue (White Paper – Foundation)
You select a national healthcare issue or stressor and analyze its impact
on your organization. This serves as the foundation for your final
project. The white paper addresses:
• Description of the national healthcare issue/stressor and its
impact on your organization: Use organizational data to quantify
the impact.
• Summary of scholarly resources: Review at least two articles from
outside resources on the issue.
• Strategies used to address the issue in other
organizations: Summarize strategies from scholarly resources and
explain how they may impact your organization both positively
and negatively.
Example Paper: Analysis of a Pertinent Healthcare Issue: Access to
Quality Healthcare; Addressing the National Nursing Shortage:
Implications and Strategies.
2. Work Environment Assessment
You assess your work environment using a validated tool such as
the Clark Workplace Assessment Tool. This assignment evaluates:
