How have you been? What have you been up to recently?
Larry: It's amazing how much I've kind of learned from this school,
coming here encouraged me to do a lot of stu! that I never would
have gotten encouraged for, I mean I wouldn't encourage myself to
do painting and... I did some when I was a kid, but then when I get
to be older, I kind of left it aside. And then since the stroke, for that
first four months or five months, whatever it was, everything was
gone, everything. And when I would do, I've probably told you all
the same stu! the last time I saw you but... I just couldn't
remember anything. And I confused my son, one of my sons is the,
probably my closest friend, and we see each other usually about
once a week, or once a week in a half, and we talk about
everything. He takes me places and we do things and that really
helps keep me motivated. I couldn't do all of that without him. Or
in the same thing with my wife, I mean it's just amazing how much
care they give to me. My wife says she doesn't give me that much,
but she does. And my son Chris, all my kids I'm close to which is
amazing to me. Eight kids, and I'm close to every one of them,
including my four and Maureen's four. And I didn't know any of the
kids when I married Maureen. I just met them. And I think the
youngest at that time was 3 or 4 years old. But we just, I don't
know what it was, we just connected, every one of us. So my son
and her sons get together and they hang out once in a while. And
when we go somewhere, when I go somewhere and I'm going with
Maureen's son, I might invite my son or let him know that we're
going, and he sometimes comes. So the whole family, me or her
and I, his kids and I, my kids and... SLP: You're very close to your
family. Larry: It's amazing how lucky we are to have a close family.

Tell me about how things are going for you at home.
SLP: Let's talk a little bit about how things are going and maybe
kind of where we're going to go from here. So we, you and I, have
been working together for a while and you've been making really
nice, steady progress. What are, do you, let's think of, I don't know,
the last six months or even the last three months. Have you, are
you doing more for yourself at home or how are things changing?
Larry: Absolutely. SLP: Can you tell me a little bit about what that’s
like? Larry: Well, as you know, Maureen's pretty busy and so I
spend a bit of time alone, but I'm very fortunate. I have my son
Chris and I have my other son that come to see me quite often.
Chris more than anybody else. He's almost every week, once a
week. And when di!erent things come up, he invites me to go. So it
might be, like the other day, we went to a cookout. Not a cookout,
a cookout. That thing where, I'm saying the wrong word. It was just
a thing where one of the companies that has us come di!erent
people come, like students, not students, people like me. They go
to the company, they have a cookout. Not cookout, but a you go to
the place and you can go swimming or you can go for a boat ride,
at this particular company that comes once a week for the
summer. And we went to that and we had a wonderful time, so
there are things that I can do I can still do them. My son has if he's
going to do anything, he invites me. And he takes me to things
that... Like my brother, he's afraid to take me anywhere, he's afraid
to take me in the water. He's afraid something might happen to me
and he'd be responsible for trying to straighten it out and he's
afraid to venture that route. My son Chris will do any darn thing.
SLP: Let me ask you about being at home. So let's, let me ask you a
few questions. Getting dressed, are you able to do that all by
yourself? Larry: Oh, I do that all by myself. SLP: So, buttons,
zippers? Larry: Buttons, zippers, pants. SLP: Picking out your
clothes? All that? Larry: No, Maureen picks out the clothes. She
puts them in a thing, in a bureau that we have with the spool. SLP:
So she gets it all set up? Larry: She gets it ready so when I go there
I strip and then I take my shower or whatever, usually a shower,
and then I take and I get the clothes o! a little chest that we have
there. I get dried up and then I have a chair. And I get over into the
thing and then get all dried up. And then get dressed myself. Takes
me a lot longer than it would a normal healthy person that just
