What is the best exam reading approach?: - CORRECT ANSWER-For the modern
text, there is no extract, so you must know the story well. For the poetry, read the
poems twice to make sure you understand the "big idea" first.



What is Question 1? - CORRECT ANSWER-Question 1 asks you to answer one
question on your modern prose or drama text. It is worth 34 marks (30 for your
answer and 4 for spelling and grammar) and takes about 45 minutes.



Top Tip: Since there is no extract, try to remember 5-10 "golden quotes" that
work for many different characters or themes.



Band 6 Goal: Give a clear personal opinion on the characters and use quotes to
show why you feel that way.
