exam time, you will receive a 0 for the final.

• Review of forces in loaded beams, shear and moment diagrams.
• Stress and strain components in solids, transformation properties,
• Mohr’s circle, linear stress-strain relations.
• Two dimensional problems.
• Bending and shear stresses in straight beams, deflection of beams.
Indeterminate problems. Stresses in non-axisymmetric, composite and curved
beams.
• Torsion of cylinders with circular and non-rectangular cross sections.
• Stresses in circular cylinders subject to external loads and elevated
temperatures, pressure vessels, shrink-fit problems, rotating cylinders and disks.
• Energy methods.
• Strength and failure; yield criteria (Tresca, Von-Mises); fatigue failure – S/N
